Should you apply the handbrake on the majority of times that you stop whilst in the CP driving role?

The laws of physics would say that if hit from behind then injuries would be reduced if the handbrake hadn't have been applied. So why do courses in the UK teach you to apply the handbrake the majority of times when you stop?

I would answer NO to this question. I have been both a driver and then later on a commander of a armoured client vehicle and had situations from Road Traffic Collisions (RTCs) to an attempted kidnap, where our vehicle was hit while stationary in traffic. By NOT having the handbrake applied allowed for quick drills to be applied and the vehicle manoeuvred out of the danger zones.
