After leaving the Marines at the end of 2012 and obtaining my CP Licence at the begining of 2013 I expected to find a CP job quickly given my background and experience, however as time went on it became clear to me that this was not going to be the case and it was going to be more of a struggle than I first thought.
However I am now happy to say that I am now close to where I want to be in the industry. It has not been easy to get here but the point is I did, and it wasn't done by just banging my CV out to the top companies in the hope of landing a job, it was done by starting from the bottom and taking the crap jobs to build my CV and working up to where I am today. For example doing event security was a great way for me to gain experience and a better working knowledge of the wider security world. My point is to all those hoping to find their way in the industry , don't turn down a crap job because you think your better than it. The truth is it shows willing and perserverance.
I hope there are more out there who can share their experience of how they got to where they are today.
Best wishes and good luck.
