Description:

The Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Award IHCD First Person on Scene (FPOS) qualification has been designed to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to help a person in a life threatening situation. The First Person on Scene (FPOS) concept has been developed as a partnership between the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Institute of Health Care Development (IHCD); it is designed as a training programme for any personnel involved in pre-hospital care working in a non-NHS background. This can include First Aid at Work trained staff who want to develop their skills and any individual wishing to undertake first-responder duties in the community. FPOS meets the Security Industry Authority (SIA) first aid requirements for close protection and can be delivered internationally. Modules Include: Scene safety, Minimising the risk of infection, Patient assessment, Basic life support and automated defibrillation, Providing initial emergency patient care, Being part of a medical response.
