EXECUTIVE CLOSE PROTECTION COURSE! Twenty-one days of intensive and immersive Close Protection training covering all aspects of the industry and leading to a Level 3 qualification enabling you to apply for your SIA licence. But this course goes further; we don’t simply teach you what is required to pass the exam, we teach you what you really need to be successful in the industry. Furthermore, we will do our very best to help you to find that all important first assignment in Close Protection!

This is not an attendance course. There are several intermediate examinations during the course that you will have to pass to move on to the subsequent phase.


Unlike other CP courses, we don’t let just anyone on our course; you have to earn it. This is what makes the final qualification all the more coveted and rewarding. We will sign you up for the course and attendance will be confirmed subject to passing our pre-selection day held on the first day of the course start date. More details of what is expected on the day will be provided when you register. If you fail this you will recicve a full refund.


The G7 CP Course is structured around the core teaching elements as set out by the awarding body EDEXCEL. On successful completion you will receive the EDEXCEL Level 3 Award in Close Protection Operations, allowing you to apply for your SIA licence.

In addition you will receive:

G7 Certificate In Close Protection (Operator or Supervised Operator depending on your pass level)
Tier 1 Medic – includes:
CTR (Clinical Trauma Responder)
FPOS - Intermediate
HSE approved FAW (First Aid at Work)
AED/Medical gasses

Days: 1-4 Close Protection Medic Training

Qualification: Level 2 FPOS – Intermediate

This is a practical, hands-on course designed to cover many of the situations you are likely to experience in the course of your Executive Protection duties.

  • Breathing assessment, respiratory patterns bag valve mask and stethoscope use

  • Soft tissue injuries including steri-strips and wound dressings
  • Muscular Skeletal Injuries
  • Burns
  • Poisoning and drug overdose
  • Diabetes, epilepsy and seizures
  • Encephalitis and meningitis
  • Head and Spinal injuries including use of vacuum immobilisation, scoop stretchers and long boards
  • Fractures and splinting
  • Oxygen and Entonox
  • Vehicle extrication awareness

Days: 5-8 Introduction to Close Protection Operations

This is the first section of the CP Course itself. It will introduce you to many of the roles & responsibilities within a CP Team and the wider world.

Days: 9-10 Executive Close Protection Driving

The SIA does currently not require specific CP driving techniques to be taught. Practical reality is that much of a CPO’s time will be spent in and out of vehicles.

This module will give you skills transferable between both the executive and hostile environment.

Days: 11-12 Residential Security & International Travel

The RST function is often a stepping-stone for newly qualified CP Operators to gain experience. Whilst not as high profile as the CP Operator on the ground, it fulfils a vital function in the protection strategy of the Principal and its importance should not be underestimated.

Days: 15-16 Surveillance Training Phase

This module can only scratch the surface of what is involved in the discipline that is ‘Surveillance’. But understanding the difference between imposing surveillance on a target and simply following them is crucial, as is the need to appreciate the difference between Close Protection and Protective Surveillance.

Days: 17-18 Operating as an Individual Bodyguard

Todays Bodyguard mostly works in a small team or alone, so not only do we teach you to operate in a team, we also make sure you can work alone. That way you have all bases covered and an in depth knowledge of what’s really needed in todays market.
