About your course:
The training is split into four separate phases which you will need to complete in order to become registered as an Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, EMT-B.

Phase one: (5 days of theoretical and practical training)
You will need to arrive at the NERAMS training centre in Durham UK on a Sunday evening between 5 and 10pm. If you are traveling by train, a member of our staff will meet you (by prior arrangement) at the ticket office and drive you to the centre.
You will be living with other delegates in rooms of 2-4, separate rooms/showers/toilets are provided for females.
The course is self-catering, food is provided but you will be responsible for preparing food as part of a rota system. During the intensive week of training, you will undertake classroom and practical learning and will have evening tasks/lessons also. All food and accomodation costs are included.

Phase two: (Online learning with Tutor Skype support)
You can complete your online modules regardless of where you work around the world. You will have a nominated tutor that you can contact should you need additional support. You will have a periodic check ups to track your progress which will keep you on track, either by skype, mail or telephone. (normally takes 6-8 weeks 4hrs per week)

Phase three: (5 days of theoretical and practical training)
Similar to week one, you will be joining us back at the NERAMS training centre in Durham where you will now complete a further week of skills training which will bring your phase 1 and 2 training together and build on those skills. This phase will also prepare you for operational tasking. All food and accomodation costs are included.

Phase four: ( 12 intensive days working as an EMT-B in Romania)
With all of the theory and practical skills you have gained what you now need is ‘hands on’ experience.
You are now ready for your clinical deployment.
You will work as part of an operational ambulance crew to deal with emergency situations. You will be working under the guidance of an (English speaking) emergency Doctor to treat patients in a pre hospital setting. You will be working on shift in Romania where you will meet many different nationalities of patients and develop new skills in dealing with non english speaking patients.
Your days will be long and hard, you will complete two days working in the University Hospital Emergency Department in Romania before working frontline on an ambulance on both day and night shifts. You will be under the guidance of a pre-hospital mentor Doctor. All food and accomodation costs are included.
