First Person On Scene Intermediate (FPOS-I) by HSC Trainng (Glasgow)

My FPOSi completed during my close protection course had expired, so I looked for a local training provider to do some refresher training.

There were other courses near by, however, I knew of the instructors background at HSC Training, and at £240 for the full weeks training it seemed like a good deal. I thought it would be better to do the full course again, rather than a refresher (which was more expensive with other providers) due to skill fade and the way some aspects of first aid always seem to be changing.

The instructor, Alan, is ex Parachute Regiment and close protection medic who also has a lot of experience in countries such as Guatemala, and his experience is shown throughout the course when discussing what to do in different situations. Alan, was also able to pitch the training at the right level, to the different experince levels of students that were on the course. Before the course started Alan, asked everyone questions to guage their learning style, and majority of the time was spent with practicle hands on, rather than power point presentations.

The resources available were excellent, there was plenty of kit including dummies, oxygen bottles, bandages etc. There was nothing that we needed that they didn't have, and there was no shortage so there was no long waits for someone else to finish with the kit either.

At £240 it is definately the cheapest FPOSi course that I have seen advertised. Usually training is a case of you get what you pay for, this is the exception. I can't recomend this highly enough.
