MCA Proficiency In First Aid
I hold my FPOS I, so did this in an attempt to future proof myself.
How ever, found this course indispensible.
I had no idea outside of my company’s med pack, just how much equipment, medication etc. that most ships carry!
If it all kicks off I could empty my med kit quickly, now I know how much the ship could support me as the team medic, I am a lot more confidant.
MSO, done over three days is ideal, ran smoothly and didn’t over power anyone on course.
Instructor knowledge unquestionable, and with a group of MSO and some lads that did both HECP and MSO, the group discussion was fantastic.
A very informative course.
What an eye opener the MCA SSO is. It’s a different language, happily Chris took us through it all. It was soon apparent to all on course, how helpful we as MSO could be to the ships SSO with this knowledge behind us.
It’s a lot of PowerPoint, but with a great instructor, we soon got to grips with it all. The ISPS codebook itself takes some getting used to.
Lunch for the MSO was provided in house; Lunch for the SSO was across the road, as Chris was right, we needed a proper break, and leg stretch.
