I spent just under 5 years serving in the Royal Marines as a Commando. I served as a rifleman in the general duties specialisation on standby to deploy to any emergency around the world as part of the first wave of the UK's Joint Rapid Reaction Force. I have served in various units around the UK; including FPGRM, Commando Logistics Chivner and Lymstone Training Centre.
I served with the Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines, guarding the UK's nuclear weapons for twelve months. After this period I was then selected to operate in a Fleet Standby Rifle Troop; where I was trained to board moving ships by method of fast rope and also at sea level by rigid inflatable boat (RIB).
During one of my first assignments I provided direct support to Special Forces, where we underwent numerous offshore exercises together around the UK. After which I went on operations with the ships boarding party, boarding and searching ships for Drug, Gun and Human Trafficking in and around the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea. I also carried out port security to a number of ships in and around the same areas.
I also trained as a signaller and planned and implemented the provision of fast, reliable communications that are fundamental to the success of Royal Marines operations.
During my time as a signaller I did a four month tour of Norway undertaking arctic warfare training.
Since the beginning of 2011 i have been providing maritime security to vessels around the Gulf of Aden, Indian Ocean, Arabian and Red Sea, undertaking and successfully completing several armed transits for a number of contractors including OMS, PVI and Red Four.
I am a keen, conscientious, honest and reliable individual who is hardworking and committed. I have gained valuable experience and knowledge within my chosen roles to date and can work comfortably with any given situation. I hold a full driving licence and I am willing to undertake training, if offered or required.
